There are two AED / Defibrillators in the parish. One is located outside Woolaston Memorial Hall, the other outside The Rising Sun.
An AED, or automated external defibrillator, is used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. It’s a sophisticated, yet easy-to-use, medical device that can analyze the heart’s rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electrical shock, or defibrillation, to help the heart re-establish an effective rhythm.
Hopefully you will never need to use one of these devices, but in the event that one is required, you would be directed to the nearest one by the health service professionals. The defibrillator can be used with no prior training as it will guide the user with clear spoken prompts and once connected to the patient will make their own assessment of what is required and operate accordingly.
Learning how to use a defibrillator could be life saving.
