Walk 2 Picnic Site – Birchwood – Woolaston Common – Keynsham Lane
Approximately 4.75 miles (7.64 kilometres) of which about 1 ½ miles is metalled surface. Ascent 200ft. 2 1/2 hours. Starts on the A48 at OS grid ref ST588 993 ( N51:41:26 W2:35:45). Convenient parking in the Car Park of the Picnic Area. This walk can be very challenging especially in the summer when the vegetation is high.
Walk up Keynsham Lane turn right onto FWO/61/1 and follow this keeping to the right of the hedgerow, at the end turn left on the track and then onto FWO/107/1 across the field.
Left on Severn View Road to follow the route of FWO/95 which goes right into Birchwood Road and left again into Pinedale. At the end of Pinedale turn right down the alley and once again into Birchwood Road then down the alley on the left which is still FWO/95 and across the field onto Ring Fence.
Turn right down Ring Fence then left along Woolaston Common and, opposite Sandtumps, right along FAL/10/1 then left along FAL/9/1.
At the cross roads turn left back along Woolaston Common then right up the track which is FWO/1/4, left though the field and garden of High Meadows along FWO/6/1 and left along FWO/3/2 crossing Woolaston Common Wood to the track which is FWO/15/1. Some way along the track turn right onto FWO/14/1 across Woodside onto FWO/16/1.
Left on Woodside Road and left down FWO/18/1 right onto FWO/17/2 at the end of which go left down the road then right onto FWO/55/1 and right onto Keynsham Lane.
Turn Left down FWO/63/1 then left on FWO/64/1 to FWO/125/1 through the Churchyard and down Church Lane to return to the Car Park.
